With 15 main locations and approximately 75 courts across the entire region from Dortmund via Essen and Bochum to Duisburg and Gelsenkirchen, the Ruhr Valley offers unique padel density.
PadelCity Dortmund leads with 12 courts as the largest single facility, followed by We Are Padel Essen with 10 courts. A special highlight is the MATCHPLAY League from PadelWorld Bochum, which launches in March 2026 and offers organized league play for all skill levels. PadelWorld Bochum is also the largest outdoor facility in the region with 6 courts. The infrastructure includes approximately 50 indoor courts for year-round play as well as 25 outdoor courts for the summer months. The strong networking between cities, active WhatsApp communities and regular events make the Ruhr Valley Germany's liveliest padel region. Prices vary by venue and time of day, roughly between €24 and €42 per hour for a doubles court. With four players, that comes to €6 to €10.5 per person.
Most indoor facilities offer racket and ball rental. You only need sports clothing and indoor shoes. Pure outdoor courts don't always offer rentals. Best to check with the club beforehand.

Most padel venues let you play without membership. Courts are booked flexibly by the hour. This is different from many traditional tennis clubs.
Padel is primarily a doubles sport. You can find playing partners through local communities and open matches. Some venues also offer singles courts.
